Contents page

I have created two different content pages for my magazine that I could use. I plan to analyse them to pick out aspects that I like and that I don't like.

Front cover crowd

For my front cover, I am going to a silhouette of a crowd at the bottom of the page, to make it look like it’s at a real concert. For this I have used Word as it is easy for me to achieve this. I have a picture of someone cheering, then I cropped the background out so it is just the top half of the bod and nothing else. I then chose an effect that turned the picture black and white and made it look more effective. I then did this to 4 more people and lined them all up so they look like a real crowd.

Where is took photos

I went out to different places so I could take some photos for my media. Some of the locations that I have chosen to use is Wicksteed Park. I chose here as there are a lot of green areas here. This fits in with my character as he is very interested in being green. I then saw a memorial and decided to take a picture with my character on it. This is because my character once did a song and had an album cover based on Memorial Day and he is very supportive of he men that fought. I had him holding an acoustic guitar to give the impression that he can be calm as well as playing an electric guitar. This shows that his genre of music can be hip hop but calm as well.

These are some of the pictures that I took.

My main charcter

This is the story for my main character for my double page spread, Robert Brown.

My character

Name: Robert Brown
My character is going to be someone who played their music in the 80s and was really big at that time. He is now going to tell their story of their life. How they he singing, his childhood, his songs and many more. He is going to be aged at 54 and he sang when he was 26 in the year 1987.

  • Born 7th Jan 1961
  • Now 54
  • Sang first hit song in 1987 aged 26
  • Music genre was ‘rock’ and ‘hard rock’ and acoustic
He’s lived in London for all his life in London. When he was younger, his parents got him in to music as they themselves were amateur musicians. His mother was a singer and father a guitarist. He played acoustic and electric. Due to this, he was taught how to play a guitar at the age of 14. He was playing perfectly at the age of 17. Due to his mother being a singer, he was singing by the age of 16. In his teen years, he went to school but never did any well, besides from music. At the age of 18, he had a weekend job at a small café in the centre of London where he would serve tables, then from 8 o’clock upwards would be the musical entertainment. Playing calm music on his acoustic guitar. This is how his musical career got started. He would write his own songs and play them to the small crowds in the café. He started with songs about the war and was very passionate about this as family members of his fought and died in the war. He did this until he was 20 when he mother got sick and he had to care for her. He would continue to be her career for another 3 years until she passed away. After about 4 months, (24) he stared to get back into his music career, with a dream to become the next big guitarist. He got together a small band (a drummer and another guitarist) and started to play in different music cafes. After doing this for a year, (25) a man in the audience at a show one day saw potential in them and he decided to be there manager. He got them to open a gig in 1987 (26) and the audience loved them. Straight after that, they signed a record deal with one of their songs. He started to play more electric guitar with the band, but when alone he continued to play acoustic. Now, he plays alone but recently did a reunion with his old band members

What makes a good photo shoot

I am going to be doing a photo shoot for my magazine and will need to understand what I need to do to have a successful photo shoot. I have done some research into this, and this is what I have found.

I am going to need to plan the poses that I want the people that I will be photographing. this will help as then I can quickly get the people into the pose that they need to be in and not waste anytime.

Experiment with different angles:

The wrong angle can ruin a perfectly good picture, so it's important to try as many looks as possible to learn what works. I will need to consider angles, especially when working with my characters as there are many different angles that I could use such as close up, panoramic shots or long shots.

Having the right light could effect my pictures as well. If I have the wrong lighting for my pictures, it may affect the picture and make it look bad and not professional.

Photos

I will be taking photos for my magazine in my local area. They will include backgrounds and pictures with my characters in. For my background of my front cover, I am going to take a picture of the Corby cube theatre with my character on the stage. I have chosen this stage in particular as it looks older and not very modern. This is good as the picture that I plan to take is supposed to be in the late 80s. Having my character at this venue is to represent the fact that he was very popular in the 80s and can easily sell out a whole arena. I am also planning of having a shot of the seats and a close up of my character sitting in one of these seats. The pose I would like him to be in would be with his arms behind him on other seats and his legs on the seats in front of him. This is to show that he is very laid back and clam. It is also to show that he is cool and a role model to his fans and he is very popular.

Front cover picture

At the bottom of my front cover page, I am going to have a silhouette of a crowd cheering. For this, I am going to take pictures of some people behind them when they are raising their arms. After that, I will edit the picture so it is black and looks like a silhouette.
