Front cover first attempt

This is a first attempt of my front cover for my music magazine. many things such as the character and the costume will be changed. I will make another front cover with the character that I plan to use and a real costume, however it will still be an attempt and I will make changes to it after.

Changes to the double page spread first attempt

The first change that I am planning to make to the double page spread is the photos that I plan to use. To make it look like all the photos were not taken at the same time I plan to have my character dress up in a few different suits and change the setting that he is in to make it look like he was in different areas. I will also dress him up in different 80s style clothing as well.

I will also have a different background. I am not sure what I will have so I will use this double page spread as a template and put a variety of different backgrounds on it and see what my target audience would prefer.

I may also change the layout of the page. I will try a variety of layouts and then see what one would look the best. I may also change what some boxes are about to make it more interesting for the reader. I may also change the font.

Double page spread first attempt

This is the double page spread I have made to get a rough idea of what my real one will look like. The background on my real magazine will look different when I deceive what my final background will be. The small picture will all be in different settings as well and he will be wearing multiple costumes. I may also change the layout to the page and when I ask my target audience what they like and dislike about it, I may add and take things from it. I will be keeping the images in the middle the same, but to make it clearer that one version is older than the other, I am going to make the costumes more distinct and maybe put the date that the photos were taken.

Character for front cover

The character for my front cover is called Sam Michaels. He is now in his 50s, but I am going to photograph him for my front cover when he is in his 20s. He was in a band called PUNK, and was the best guitarist in the band. I am going to photograph him as if he was at a concert and all his fans are cheering for him. He is going to be photographed as he is jumping in the air with his guitar in his hands. He will be in 80s clothing. He does not know Robert Brown, and will therefore not feature in his page in the magazine. He now has a family and no longer performs as a musician.

First attempt at a contens page

After looking at the backgrounds and fonts I have made a contents page with my pictures I have taken. My real copy will look different to his one, for example it wont be the same person, it will be two different people. I am also not sure on the fonts and colours. Next, I plan to ask my target reader why they feel works and what they don't like.

Results for contents page

I have asked 36 people what background they think would be best for my magazine. From the results, I can see that the idea with just the plain blue background was the least favourite. I can also see that that most favourtie was the option with the flag that was in colour.

Ideas for contents page

These are four ideas that I have created for my contents page. I have four different background ideas that I am going to ask my target reader what one they prefer. When I find out what one my target reader would prefer, I will then start to develop it more adding sub heading and more text.

Monochrome steps

This is how I managed to make the tie red and the rest of the person black and white.

Characters for contents page 2

The second character and the character that will be standing behind Jack Cross will be the drummer of the band that both Robert and Jack was once in is James Evans. He is the same ages as Robert and is famous for his drumming skills within the band. He too left, but in 2003 and after he left, he was offered a solo career in drumming. Robert didn’t feel like this was the best move for the band but he agreed it was best for Jack so they remained friends. He went on to make an album that was a best seller. It was all just solo songs that he created. 2012 was his last solo performance and in 2014 he took part in a reunion performance with Jack and Robert that managed to sell out, Ever since then he has just lived in London with his wife. He still has man fans that ask him for pictures in the streets. Him and Jack still talk and so does Robert and they usually meet up at the weekend. He too will feature in the magazine in Roberts’s story.

I will be photographing both these characters after they left the band. At this point they are both well established and have made a lot of money. They will both be in suits as the photo will have been taken in 2015, showing they have a lot of money.
